What is the difference between observations and imagination?
Observations are all those things that we see around, it also includes our experiences in life. Whereas an imagination can be defined as "the ability to form a picture in your mind of something that you have not seen or experienced; the ability to think of new things.
“Every child is born with an imagination.”
A child observes every bit of happenings around like - how white clouds form in the sky, rain droplets fall, flowers bloom everywhere, dog cuddling its puppies and many more things. These observations make up his imagination. Childhood is all about curiosity, to know answers to lots of questions filled in that small brain.
As quoted by Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist”.
As a child, I have been a keen observer, like each one of you. I have many such memories of childhood, to which even u all will relate. Like I used to:
· sit by my bedroom window and use to imagine the paper boat floating over the stream of water.
during rainy days, number of frogs used to assemble in the pond near my house, singing in a chorus and making weather more mesmerizing.
admiring honeybee collectingnectar from flowers.
watching a cartoon show on T.V. and then drawing my favorite character from it, in my drawing file.
Imagination of a child is very unique. He sees the world in a way no one else can see. He has that ability to make us see that world, which is not in real. That’s imagination.
My 6 years old nephew also has such skills. Whenever he does drawing or coloring, I watch him travelling into different world, where sky is pink, clouds are black, and water with blue and white shades. He visualizes all this, expressing it in his drawing. After finishing, he even has explanation to everything he draws. That’s the creative mind of a child.
I have preserved many such observations of my childhood, in my art works.
For an artist, being a good observer and imaginative is very important. Then converting all those thoughts into a beautiful art piece. We should always keep our conscious mind open and let the thoughts pour in. Then only we will be able to express ourselves through our work.
As it is quoted, “Art speaks where words are unable to explain”.
Every artist should take courage to put forth his thoughts through his art piece and convey the message.
Do you have such childhood impressions? Do you have the courage to make them into art work? I have.
Thus, I am here to share with you all those things which are engraved in my mind as impressions.
I am here to express them through “Colored Impressions”, collection of my art works.
You will meet me in my each art piece.
As it is said,
“In every work of art, the artist himself is present”
- Christian Morgenstern
